Overview
The SharpenDB INSERT panel executes an INSERT query against a custom table in SharpenDB, adding new records with the field values you define. It allows your Logic+ flow to write data to your database automatically based on caller interactions, enabling you to capture and store information for use in future interactions or reporting.
Relevant API documentation for configuring SharpenDB queries can be found at your isolation zone link: IZ0 or IZ1.
Before You Begin
Use the Test feature within the panel to validate that your query is inserting data into the correct table and fields before your flow goes live. Confirm that the field names and value formats match your table's schema to avoid insert failures.
Example Use Case
A Logic+ flow guides a caller through an IVR menu. Based on the selections the caller makes during the interaction, the flow uses the SharpenDB INSERT panel to record the caller's ANI and their chosen options into a custom table. This data can then be referenced in future interactions to personalize the caller's experience — for example, pre-selecting their preferred language or routing them based on past behavior.
Properties
-
Name
Enter a unique, descriptive name to identify the panel.
-
Description
Enter any notes about the panel for reference. This field is collapsed by default; select the down arrow to expand it.
-
Initiates Flow
Designates this panel as the starting point of the Logic flow. When selected, this panel will be the first to execute when the flow is triggered. This can only be removed by setting a different panel as the flow initiator.
-
Redact Data in Logging
Disables data logging for this panel to support data redaction requirements. This feature is available upon request and is subject to change.
Test
Use the Test feature to run the configured query and verify it behaves as expected before the flow goes live. Results can be viewed in two formats:
View JSON: Displays the query results as a structured JSON object.
View Table: Displays the query results in a tabular format for easier readability.
Fields
-
Table
-
Select the SharpenDB table into which the new record should be inserted.
Use Dropdown: Select from existing tables in the environment.
Use Variable: Reference a variable containing a string that matches an existing SharpenDB table name.
-
-
Fields
-
Select the field (column) in the table where the value should be inserted. Add additional field and value pairs as needed to populate multiple columns in a single INSERT operation.
Use Dropdown: Select from the available fields in the selected table.
Use Variable: Reference a variable containing a string that matches an existing field name in the table.
-
-
Value
Enter the value to insert into the corresponding field. This field accepts static values as well as dynamic variables using
$()syntax to capture data from earlier in the flow.
-
Variables
-
Save variables from the data returned from a table.
Name: The variable where the JSON Path data returned is stored.
JSON Path: The path of the data returned.
-
-
Timeout
-
Specify the number of seconds to wait for the query to return a result before timing out. If the timeout is reached, the flow will route through the Timeout exit path.
Use Dropdown: Select a numerical value from the available options.
Use Variable: Reference a variable containing a numerical value.
-
Exits
-
Default
The path taken when the INSERT query executes successfully.
-
Timeout
The path taken if the query does not complete within the specified timeout period, typically due to a slow or non-performant query.
