Polycom Manual Provisioning – SharpenCX

Overview

This article walks through the steps required to manually provision a Polycom phone to a Sharpen extension. Manual provisioning is typically used when automatic provisioning is not available or has not yet been configured.

Important: If you intend to switch to automatic provisioning in the future, the settings configured during manual provisioning will override the automatic provisioning configuration file. A full factory reset is required before transitioning to automatic provisioning.

Company Directories will not populate on a manually provisioned device. To enable directory sync, the phone must be provisioned through Sharpen's provisioning host. Refer to the Polycom Provisioning article for instructions.

Before You Begin

Before beginning the provisioning process, it is important to fulfill the configuration items below. This can be done via the Configuration > Extensions menu within Sharpen Admin.

Next, gather the following information from the Sharpen Portal before starting. Navigate to Admin > Configuration > Extensions and locate the extension you want to provision.

Username — For example: 5758con1409
Password — For example: fWAuHO1THprLLpV0EwWzpUyMxjYCT7cz
Server Address — Use a modified format by removing the middle segment from the full server address. For example, if the Extensions page shows us1.vbx555.09.f.sipvbx.com, enter us1.vbx555.sipvbx.com.

Also ensure the phone has been factory reset before beginning. The default factory reset password is 456. Refer to this guide if needed.
