Overview
Sharpen Hot Desk allows agents to sign in to any compatible desk phone and receive their calls at that location, without being tied to a single physical extension. This is ideal for agents who move around the office, share workstations, or rotate through receptionist duties, ensuring they can take calls wherever they are working from at any given time.
Requirements
Before using Hot Desk, ensure the following conditions are met:
The agent must be configured as a Queue (Q) user.
The physical extension being used as the Hot Desk must have a Connect license assigned.
Setting Up Hot Desk
Log in to the Sharpen Portal and navigate to Sharpen Q.
Locate the Route Calls To menu and select Hot Desk. A prompt will appear.
Enter the extension number you want to use as your Hot Desk and click Check Extension. The phone at that extension will begin to ring.
Pick up the ringing phone and listen for the PIN provided through the handset.
Enter the PIN in the prompt and click Verify PIN.
Once verified, the Hot Desk indicator will appear in the upper-right corner of the Sharpen Q interface next to your agent name and profile picture, confirming the Hot Desk session is active.
Ending a Hot Desk Session
The Hot Desk session will automatically end and become available for another agent when either of the following occurs:
You log out of Sharpen Q.
You select a different option from the Route Calls To menu.
