Overview
Fields are the data columns that appear in your report. You can add fields from any available data source and control which ones are visible at any time by showing, hiding, or deleting them. This article covers how to add, delete, and hide fields in the Side Configuration Panel.
Adding Fields
The process for adding fields is the same whether you are working from a template or building a report from scratch.
In the Side Configuration Panel, click the [+] button at the top of the Fields tab. A new drop-down menu will appear.
Select the field you want to add from the drop-down, then click Build to apply the change.
You can begin typing the name of the field in the drop-down, and the list will filter in real time, making it easier to find specific fields in large data sources.
Clicking the small blue triangle next to the [+] button provides two additional options:
-
Add all fields
Adds every field available in the selected data source to the report at once.
-
Delete all fields
Removes all fields currently in the report.
Deleting a Field
Deleting a field removes the column and all of its associated data, including any filters or summary functions applied to it, from the report entirely.
To delete a field, click the trash can icon next to the field's name in the Fields tab.
Because deleting a field also removes its data and any applied filters, consider hiding the field instead if you may need that configuration later.
Hiding a Field
Hiding a field removes the column from view without deleting any of its underlying data, filters, or summary functions. The field remains in the report configuration and can be made visible again at any time.
One common reason to hide rather than delete a field is to preserve a filter. For example, if you have filtered a Queue Name field to show only a specific queue's interactions, you can hide the Queue Name column once the filter is applied; the filter stays active even though the column is no longer visible in the report.
To hide a field, click the eye icon next to it in the Side Configuration Panel. Click the same icon again to make the field visible.
